Bien choisir son système antichute

Pourquoi une protection antichute ?

La réglementation impose à l'employeur d'évaluer les risques potentiels de chute en hauteur sur un chantier, et de fournir à titre gracieux une protection adéquate.
Le décret du 1er septembre 2004 (art. 233-13-20 du code de travail) précise que la priorité doit être donnée aux dispositifs collectifs.

En cas d'impossibilité technique, le recours à une protection individuelle est autorisé sous certaines conditions :

Matériel fourni gratuitement par l'employeur, équipement impérativement marqué CE et aux normes européennes relatives aux EPI.
Employé formé à son utilisation et informé quant à ses performances et limite.
Matériel vérifié tous les ans par une personne compétente et changé dès que nécessaire.

Pourquoi faut-il utiliser des équipements de protection antichute ?

Malgré l'expérience, un accident peut vite arriver, par précipitation ou manque d'attention. 10% des accidents du travail sont dues à des chutes en hauteur. Cela représente un accident sérieux chaque semaine en France (Source: INRS 04/2017 on accidents at work).

S'équiper d'un harnais avant d'effectuer un travail en hauteur, c'est comme boucler sa ceinture de sécurité en voiture, cela doit être automatique ». Le danger d'une chute est trop important pour lésiner sur la sécurité. Pour éviter de s'exposer à une chute qui peut malheureusement se révéler mortelle, les systèmes de protection – classe 3 – sont aujourd'hui d'une précision et d'une performance à la hauteur des enjeux.

De quoi se compose un dispositif antichute ?

Un système antichute est toujours composé de 3 éléments : 1 dispositif d'ancrage qui peut être permanent (un rail) ou provisoire (un trépied), 1 harnais porté par l'utilisateur et 1 système de connexion disposé entre le harnais et le dispositif d'ancrage. Cela peut être une longe, une corde, un enrouleur automatique ou un boîtier. Un système à 3 éléments qui « permet réellement de travailler en hauteur sans s'exposer au risque ».
